Air fryer stuffed mushrooms are filled with Italian sausage, cream cheese, Parmesan, garlic, and chopped mushroom stems, then topped with crispy panko. They cook in about 12–14 minutes for an easy appetizer.
Cooking spray, neutral oil, or melted butter, for the tops
Minced fresh parsley,optional for garnish
Instructions
Prep the mushrooms. Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems. Pat the caps dry, then finely chop the stems.
Soften the cream cheese. If needed, microwave the cream cheese for 30–45 seconds, just until softened. Let it cool slightly.
Make the filling. Mix the cream cheese, chopped mushroom stems, raw sausage, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, Parmesan, and half of the panko until evenly combined.
Stuff the mushrooms. Spoon the filling into each mushroom cap, mounding it slightly on top.
Add the topping. Press the remaining panko over the filling and lightly spray or brush the tops with oil or melted butter.
Air fry. Arrange the mushrooms in a single layer in the air fryer basket or tray. Cook at 350°F for 12–14 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender, the tops are golden, and the sausage filling reaches 160°F.
Serve. Let the mushrooms cool for a few minutes, then garnish with parsley if using and serve warm.
Notes
Dry the mushrooms well after cleaning.
Choose mushrooms that are similar in size for more even cooking.
Finely chop the stems so they blend into the filling.
Cook in batches if needed instead of crowding the basket.
Lightly oil the panko so it browns better.
Check smaller mushrooms around the 12-minute mark.
The sausage filling should reach 160°F.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
